Handmade brass rear tail light escutcheon plinths that faithfully replicate the distinctive styling seen across the early DB2 models. These bodywork components feature the characteristic peaked profile that echoes the centre three-piece grille shape of the First Sanction models.
Used continuously from the distinctive First Sanction cars of the very early 1950s through to the later DB2/4 models of the early and mid 1950s, these escutcheons represent an authentic DB2 period detail.
At DMark® we have been reproducing these components for more than 30 years using our proprietary custom tooling, jigs, patterns and manufacturing aids developed in the 1990s—and all derived from dimensional data taken from original parts.
Each brass plinth is individually handed for near-side and off-side fitment, meticulously fabricated, fettled and polished. Mounting is achieved through four 4BA threaded studs that secure directly to the bodywork.
Handed escutcheons for the near-side and off-side of the vehicle are supplied as a set or individually, each coming with a tail-light lamp and metal housing, rubber sleeve and our new fitting kit.
All DMark® DB2 brass escutcheon plinths are finished as polished brass, meticulously prepared and chrome-ready.
Customers may receive their new brass escutcheon plinths in polished brass or chrome finished. DMark® partners exclusively with established, reputable electroplating specialists who share our exacting quality standards.
The DB2 escutcheons are essentially bolt-on components, so many clients prefer us to manage the chrome plating process. However, we understand that some customers prefer to handle plating themselves—particularly when coordinating comprehensive restoration work and batching chrome components together after dry-fitting.

Customers should be aware that vehicles with extensive repairs may have altered bodywork geometry due to paintwork processes and body filler usage, which can subtly affect panel shape where escutcheons are positioned. We have taken considerable care to replicate the most authentic original geometry, though this may occasionally differ from a vehicle’s current surface characteristics. Similarly, stud hole positions in bodywork may vary from new DMark® component specifications and minor adjustments may occasionally be required to achieve optimal fitment.

New Escutcheon fitting kit by DMark®
Original escutcheon plinths featured three small sheet metal fasteners or clinch nuts positioned to align with holes in the rim of the bulb housing. However, contemporary bulb housings present challenges with inconsistent hole patterns and rubber sleeve diameters that often fail to align properly with original escutcheon dimensions.
Metal bulb housings and sleeve diameters used in the 1950s were smaller than modern equivalents. This dimensional change makes fitting new sleeves onto original components particularly problematic, especially when clinch nuts remain positioned close to the brass edge.
DMark® has solved this issue with our improved plinths and fitting kit. Our design features two precisely spaced holes that align perfectly with brass inserts set into an Acetal (engineering plastic) ring. The Acetal ring allows modern rubber sleeves to pass through and sit correctly against the plinth, ensuring a proper connection.
This arrangement delivers superior fastening security and easier installation while ensuring proper alignment and improved long-term reliability.
Our plinths eliminate the use of clinch nuts or nut-serts entirely, being specifically engineered to work with our enhanced fitting kit for optimal results.
