Aston Martin DB2 Door Sill Finisher Trim Set

New
Vehicle Marque: Aston Martin
Model:
  • DB2 First Sanction
  • DB2
  • DB2/4 MK I
  • DB2/4 MK II
  • DB MK III

Complete door sill finishing trim sets comprising of near‑side and off‑side handed brass sill finisher trims, matching sill buffer, carpet finisher trim, and period‑correct ribbed rubber matting. This comprehensive set provides the intended finishing touches to the door sill area on DB2 models, recreating all factory‑specification sill trim features.

Each sill finisher features a flat, straight L‑profile with a shallow return that precisely accommodates the rubber trim thickness, allowing the matting to sit securely within the three‑sided housing. The B‑post end terminates at a right angle while the other features a subtle acute angle following the sill panelling for proper fitment against the door sill bodywork.

The included carpet finisher is an L‑profile component that caps and secures the carpet’s edge along the sill and anchors the remaining open side of the rubber mat. When properly fitted, the rectangular mat is housed securely on all sides.

The door sill buffer is a small component that houses a rubber strip. Depending on vehicle special fitments or modifications, this mounts either through the rubber mat onto the sill or directly onto the sill metalwork, providing door support during door operation. While original buffer housings may have been manufactured in aluminium, our brass construction allows for consistent chrome plating alongside the finisher trim whereas our stainless steel variant is polished.

The narrow ribbed rubber matting supplied replicates the period‑correct fluted design characteristic of original DB2 sill trim installations.

Over time we have accumulated accurate dimensional data and mounting point positions from trim we’ve either repaired or had access to in the past, enabling us to create our own manufacturing patterns and bespoke tooling.

Previously unavailable since original production ceased—especially as a complete set—these components represent the first opportunity for customers to obtain a comprehensive sill trim package based on the original design intent of the marque. Given the vehicle’s age, genuine componentry frequently shows damage from decades of use—the vulnerable sill location makes them particularly susceptible to scuffing, denting, and wear.

Configuration Notes: Sill trim and rubber configurations varied across DB2 models, with different sized rubbers, finisher dimensions, and buffer mounting arrangements. Some vehicles featured a buffer mounted on the rubber mat, while others mounted directly to sill metalwork with smaller finishers and mats. Original purchasers could specify individual preferences, and decades of modifications have created further variations.

The sill finisher trim is finished as polished brass, chrome‑ready. The carpet finisher is manufactured in stainless steel with polished finish as per factory specification. The buffer component is also finished as polished brass, chrome‑ready to match the sill finisher.

The sill finisher trim and buffer component available in polished brass or chrome plated. Carpet finisher supplied in polished stainless steel finish as standard and is not chrome plated. DMark® partners exclusively with established, reputable electroplating specialists who share our exacting quality standards.

Handmade construction throughout. The sill finishers are handed for near‑side and off‑side fitment. Sill finishers in brass, carpet finisher in stainless steel, buffer component in brass.

Primarily made‑to‑order production.

Mounting fasteners supplied with every set.

Narrow ribbed/fluted pattern replicating original factory specification.

Available for either on/through the mat or directly to the sill bodywork depending on the vehicle’s trim arrangement.

Given the variety of configurations across models and subsequent modifications over decades, customers should verify their specific requirements. We have taken considerable care to replicate the most authentic original trim geometry, though this may occasionally differ from a vehicle’s current surface characteristics due to accumulated changes over time.

The period‑correct option for clients seeking new componentry for vehicle or door sill restorations, or replacing tired original components.

Door sill finishing trim for both vehicle sides, including;

  1. Sill finisher trims (brass or brass/chrome)
  2. Carpet finisher (stainless steel)
  3. Buffer component (brass or brass/chrome)
  4. Ribbed rubber matting

Authentic period‑correct detailing and finish—this trim package ensures proper housing of the rubber mat and carpet edging, and door support buffer across the DB2 range.

Configuration Variations & Community Knowledge

The DB2 sill trim arrangements varied across models, with different mat sizes, finisher dimensions, and door buffer mounting positions. Initial marquee customers could specify preferences, and over the subsequent decades we have seen numerous modifications. We do not purport to be historical experts on every DB2 trim configuration so we welcome information from the community, owners, and specialists regarding any specific arrangements they’ve encountered or could improve our offering.

Component Vulnerability & Replacement Need

Door sill components occupy highly vulnerable positions—directly in the path of occupant entry and exit. Carpet finishers, mounted proud on the sill surface, are particularly susceptible to knocks. Genuine metal trim work frequently shows signs of scuffing, dents, and deformation from decades of contact with shoes, luggage, and general wear.

Our reproduction represents the first opportunity for customers to obtain factory‑specification door sill metal trim componentry since the original Feltham production ended, providing new finishing trim without the accumulated wear typically found in surviving originals.

Attractive polished finish across all components. Components do not require chrome plating.

The stainless steel construction eliminates the need for chrome plating while maintaining a beautiful but tough authentic appearance.

Note: While factory specification typically featured chrome‑plated brass sill finishers, stainless steel offers practical advantages in better resistance to wear, knocks/dents as well as long‑term durability.

Trim set in stainless steel for clients seeking a more durable alternative, without the indeed to have parts plated.

Door sill finishing trim for both vehicle sides, including;

  1. Sill finisher trims (Stainless steel)
  2. Carpet finisher (Stainless steel)
  3. Buffer component (Stainless steel)
  4. Ribbed rubber matting

The same authentic style, construction and finishing with the sill and buffer metalwork constructed in stainless steel rather than brass with chrome plating. The trim package ensures proper housing of the rubber mat and carpet edging, and door support buffer across the DB2 range.

Manufacturing to customer‑supplied dimensions and configuration requirements. Accommodates the various sill trim arrangements encountered across DB2 production and subsequent modifications that differ from our standard offering.

Ideally we require as many measurements and data as you one can provide but most notably the following;

  1. Sill finisher dimensions and angles
  2. Rubber matting size and thickness
  3. Buffer mounting configuration information (mounted on mat area vs. sill‑mounted)
  4. Carpet finisher length (sill length)
  5. Any other particular end angles or hole positions

We welcome any detailed photographs, sketches, dimensional drawings, or original components for reference to help us produce your bespoke part. Our extensive experience in this field helps identify the most appropriate manufacturing approach for individual requirements or to advise.

Custom manufacturing to accommodate any varying sill trim configurations found across the DB2 model range. We recognise that original customer preferences, production variations, and decades of modifications have created numerous permutations requiring individual particulars.

Our bespoke service allows clients to specify custom dimensions that may differ from our standard offering. We can also supply near‑side or off‑side sets individually, although to keep continuity we recommend clients consider the full trim set and replace both sides at the same time.
