Coming soon — handed brass door handle escutcheons that form part of the exterior door furniture and serve as mounting plates for both the door handle and lock assembly on all DB2 models including and through to the DB2/4 MK II. These recessed plates provide the necessary foundation for the complete door handle and lock assemblies while contributing to the vehicle’s exterior trim detailing.
Previously unavailable since original factory production ceased, these escutcheons represent the first opportunity for customers to obtain period‑correct replacements manufactured to factory specifications. Each escutcheon is formed from flat brass sheet and carefully finished with a cupping that accommodates fingers and knuckles when grasping the door handle. The design features a small decorative swage joggle around the perimeter and a peak that blends with the handle’s form.
Many original escutcheons encountered today show signs of wear from repeated restoration cycles—sharp edges rounded off through multiple chrome stripping, polishing and re‑plating processes, with some examples worn so thin the brass has been compromised entirely.
At DMark® we have responded to numerous customer requests over the years to reproduce these challenging components. The tooling development required has been extensive, but we’re pleased to finally bring these components back into production using our new proprietary custom tooling, jigs, and manufacturing aids.
Each escutcheon secures to the door skin via BA threaded studs, providing the foundation for both door handle and lock mechanisms. The near‑side (passenger) escutcheon incorporates provisions for the external keylock and therefore differs in shape from the off‑side (driver’s side), following the original UK safety convention where keylock access was positioned on the kerb‑side for safer operation.
The DB MK III used a different handle and mounting system, and does not require these components.
All DMark® DB2 door handle escutcheons are finished as polished brass, meticulously prepared and chrome‑ready across their outer surfaces.
Customers may receive their new door handle escutcheons in polished brass or chrome plated. DMark® partners exclusively with established, reputable electroplating specialists who share our exacting quality standards and understand the complexities of plating automotive components.
DB2 door handle escutcheons are essentially bolt‑on components, so many clients prefer us to manage the chrome plating process for consistency and quality assurance. However, we understand that some customers prefer to coordinate plating themselves—particularly when batching chrome work with other restoration components after dry‑fitting.
Expected availability 2026.
BA fasteners are supplied with every pair that screw to attached studs.
The near‑side escutcheon includes provisions for a period external keylock mechanism, while the off‑side escutcheon accommodates a handle‑only configuration.
Handmade brass construction formed from flat sheet.
Suitable for DB2 First Sanction, DB2, DB2/4 MK I, and DB2/4 MK II models.
Note: DB2/4 MK III models did not feature door handle escutcheons and used a different handle type.
Customers should be aware that vehicles with extensive door restoration may have altered door skin characteristics due to paintwork processes and body filler usage, which can subtly affect panel contours or framework where escutcheons mount. We have taken considerable care to replicate the most authentic original geometry, though this may occasionally differ from a vehicle’s current surface characteristics. Similarly, mounting hole positions may vary from new DMark® component specifications, and minor adjustments may occasionally be required to achieve optimal fitment.
Supplied exclusively as a complete pair comprising both near‑side (passenger) and off‑side (driver) escutcheons. Each door escutcheon is individually handed and features the finger/knuckle‑recess in the profile, handle peek and decorative swage detailing that defines the aesthetic.
The near‑side escutcheon incorporates the keylock provision and differs from the off‑side configuration, reflecting the period practices in the UK market where keylock access was positioned on the pavement side for safer roadside operation.
Remaking Unavailable Parts
Every DMark® door handle escutcheon is intelligently formed and fabricated from flat brass sheet using our custom tooling, but that represents only part of the manufacturing story. Our development process begins with studying original examples, gathering dimensional data, implementing targeted engineering improvements, comprehensive development and testing, followed by production using our proven traditional and advanced manufacturing techniques.
Component Scarcity & Condition Issues
These escutcheons have typically been among the most challenging DB2 components to source, with original examples often suffering from mounting fatigue, impact damage, or accumulated wear from repeated restoration processes. Particularly problematic is the gradual rounding of sharp edges through repeated chrome stripping and polishing cycles, with some examples worn completely through the base metal.
Our new production represents the first opportunity for customers to obtain factory‑specification door handle escutcheons since the original Feltham production ended in the 1950s, providing fresh components without the accumulated wear issues commonly found in surviving originals.
Note: Door Handle Availability
DMark® does not currently manufacture the door handles themselves—these escutcheons are designed to accommodate original or restored handles. For customers requiring complete door handle assemblies, we recommend consulting with marque specialists, though if demand proves sufficient we may consider expanding our offering to include these components
