Aston Martin DB2/4 MK II Bonnet Side Mouldings
Coming soon- DB2/4 MK II
Coming soon — Solid brass bonnet side mouldings that faithfully recreate the distinctive lower bonnet edge trim seen on the DB2/4 MK II models of the mid‑1950s production. Mounted along the lower bonnet edge above the side‑cheek panels, creating an authentic period detail that many vehicles have lost over the decades.
Previously unavailable since the original factory production ceased, these mouldings represent the first opportunity for DMark® customers to obtain period‑correct replacements manufactured to original specifications. Each moulding is individually cast in solid brass, precisely replicating the same profiling that follows the bonnet edge to the wheel arch curve.
At DMark® we have re‑engineered the manufacturing process for these components using the latest technologies. We have also developed methods to help address the difficulties found fabricating small batch parts such as these. While the BA threaded studs themselves remain as vulnerable as the originals by design, our improved production methods ensure they are now better fitted and integrate securely into the main cast body.
Each bonnet side moulding—a long, narrow profile with a flat mounting surface that sits flush against the bonnet’s skin—has form and shape on the outer surface with a sculpted tip that meets and briefly follows the wheel arch curve.
The straightforward bolt‑on installation makes these components particularly attractive for owners seeking to restore missing brightwork or to replace tired originals.
All DMark® DB2/4 MK II bonnet side mouldings are finished as polished solid brass, meticulously prepared and chrome‑ready.
Customers may receive their new bonnet side mouldings in polished brass or chrome plated. DMark® partners exclusively with established, reputable electroplating specialists who share our exacting quality standards.
DB2/4 MK II bonnet side mouldings are essentially bolt‑on components, so many clients prefer us to manage the chrome plating process. However, we understand that some prefer to handle plating themselves—particularly when coordinating comprehensive restoration work and batching chrome‑ready components together after dry‑fitting.
Expected availability 2026.
BA fixtures are supplied with each moulding.
Solid brass construction throughout, with threaded BA studs that are fitted into the cast body after casting and surface finishing.
Customers should be aware that vehicles with extensive repairs may have altered bodywork geometry due to paintwork processes and body filler usage, which can subtly affect panel shape where mouldings are positioned. We have taken considerable care to replicate the most authentic original geometry, though this may occasionally differ from a vehicle’s current surface characteristics. Similarly, stud hole positions in bodywork may vary from new DMark® component specifications, and minor adjustments may occasionally be required to achieve optimal fitment.
A pair comprising both near‑side and off‑side bonnet side mouldings for DB2/4 MK II models. Each moulding maintains the authentic long, narrow profile with shaped tip that matches original componentry, complete with better seated BA threaded studs and all mounting hardware.
Re‑Engineering Legacy Components
Every re‑manufactured part at DMark® undergoes our comprehensive evaluation process—thorough analysis followed by development work to engineer our own optimised methods. This approach typically combines traditional fabrication techniques with the latest available technology.
By first evaluating how original parts were manufactured in the 1950s, we can then identify where modern approaches and technologies might resolve inherent manufacturing weaknesses or address vulnerable failure points in the original design.
For these bonnet mouldings, our extensive knowledge base combined with detailed analysis of surviving examples enabled us to identify specific areas for improvement—enhancements that benefited both our manufacturing process and the quality of the finished component.
Long‑Awaited Availability
Although these have been on our development radar since the 1980s, for the first time in over seventy years, DB2/4 MK II owners can now obtain new factory‑specification bonnet side trim mouldings that maintain complete period authenticity with DMark® quality.
Historical Context
The DB2/4 MK II bonnet side mouldings were a distinctive trim detail specific to this model. To our knowledge, these components were unique to the MK II and were not carried forward to later variants.
The loss of these mouldings over the decades—through damage, corrosion, or removal during restoration work—has, we believe, left some vehicles lacking this trim detail. Our reproduction represents the first opportunity for owners to fully restore their vehicles with a new part since the factory production ended.
Near‑side bonnet side moulding only, for customers requiring single‑side replacement.
Off‑side bonnet side moulding only, for customers requiring single‑side replacement.
