Manufactured using dimensional data derived from extensive observations and measurements of genuine factory parts, these mouldings are fabricated using our new proprietary DMark® custom tooling and decades of accumulated expertise in reverse‑engineering and producing Aston Martin DB2 brightwork components.
At DMark® we have addressed the inherent weakness found in original factory components where vulnerable BA threaded studs are set into lead fill. While many original mouldings remain serviceable, this construction method becomes problematic over time if parts are removed and reattached, with studs prone to weakening, loosening, or complete failure, making re‑installation difficult without replacement or repair. Our improvements make for a more reliable stud attachment within the body‑solder fill, providing for more reliable fixturing.
The internal cavity is filled with body‑solder, following 1950s practices, providing the same stability enhancement we apply to our centre bonnet mouldings.
